ABOUT:
THROUGH THE FILMMAKER'S LENS
Expose your creative vision and share how being part of the local filmmaking industry impacts you and the communities you live in
At Washington Filmworks, our mission is to encourage growth in the film and video production industry for the economic benefit of Washington State. New filmmakers emerge and our artists grow creatively every year producing compelling, dynamic and cutting edge content shown around the globe on screens of all sizes. At Washington Filmworks we celebrate the diversity of artists throughout the state. You, the creative community, are what drives a sustainable film industry, from Seattle to Spokane, from Bellingham to Vancouver.
The “Filmmaker's Lens” competition offers another vehicle through which your voice and work can be heard and seen and gives Washington Filmworks the tools to tell your story. We invite filmmakers (novice to expert) to create 2 minute videos showing how living and working in Washington State impacts your filmmaking process.
Submitted videos can be in any genre or style:
animation
narrative
documentary
music video, etc.
Videos will be posted on a Washington Filmworks' YouTube site for viewing, and where the on-line community can vote on their favorites. A jury will choose one winner from the top five vote getters. The producer of the winning video will receive $3000 and a two-week run at the following theatres:
Northwest Film Forum
Olympia Film Society
Pickford Cinema
SIFF Cinema
The Tacoma Grande Cinema
(other theatres may be added later)
