Washington Filmworks Announces Filmmakers For 2009 Viral Video Campaign

 Campaign designed to promote Washington State as a premier west coast filming destination.

In March 2009, Washington Filmworks announced the 2009 Viral Video Campaign, soliciting up to five local filmmakers (novice to expert) to create :30 and :60 commercials promoting Washington State as a great place for motion picture, commercial, and television production. After a lengthy and competitive process, WashingtonFilmWorks is pleased to announce the four filmmakers for this year’s program.

 “Where the Hell is This Film Crew”

Staci Bernstein is an accomplished movie maker with a commitment to the feminine voice and the Northwest’s Independent Film community. She expresses themes with levity and warmth, but challenges assumptions that drive our culture. She’s been producing and directing for clients since 1992 serving hundreds of clients. In 2000, she founded a program called ArtSpots to bring media art to the masses and broadcast a flight of spots reaching close to 3 million viewers. Her business, Hero Labs, produces independent narrative movies and commercial work.

Ilona Rossman Ho is an Independent Filmmaker who enjoys writing, directing and producing. She graduated from Seattle Film Institute in 2005 and is currently producing Confessions of a First-Time Operagoer with Reel Grrls for Seattle Opera. Prior to that she produced Anatomy of a Fly for the 2009 SIFF Fly Films where she learned how exciting it is to shoot with no budget. She is a board member of Women in Film-Seattle chairing the Nell Shipman Awards and enjoys biking with her husband, three kids and the wonder-doodle Molly.

Morgan Elizabeth graduated from NYU Film School. She has crewed on multiple projects including four feature films, two of which were World's Greatest Dad and Dear Lemon Lima. Currently, Morgan is cast as a lead in the locally produced feature film entitled Perfect 10. When not in front of the camera, Morgan writes, freelance edits, and directs various projects ranging from narratives to dance pieces.

 “Washington-A Natural Beauty”

Mark O'Connell, a musician and digital media artist, creates short films whose fluid collages of imagery and sound draw on movies, memory, chance and sensuality. His work abandons traditional narrative in order to explore the possibilities that arise from the juxtaposition, as well as the rhythms and textures, of images and sound. Mark lives and works in Seattle.

 “Adventures of Caveman Dad”

Philip Rezek has been helping clients create a wide array of creative and compelling visual media since 1986, when a case of mistaken identity resulted in a gig as Production Assistant for the 25th Anniversary Bozo Special—two hours of live, primetime mayhem on WGN TV in Chicago. Since then he has worked variously as a videographer, still photographer and grip/electrician. In the middle of all that he spent six years working as a 3D computer graphics specialist at Microsoft. He was the Key Grip on recent film festival darling, The Immaculate Conception of Little Dizzle.

 Michael Welty is a freelance Director of Photography with international experience shooting film and video. He has worked in South America, the Caribbean, North America, Africa and the Middle East on a variety of narrative, documentary, corporate and commercial productions. Recent productions include thebased documentary “Back to LaPointe”, and a documentary about life in Democratic Republic of Congo which are currently in post‐production.

“Progressive Filmmaking”

Will Chase has been working in the Seattle film industry for the last six years, as a producer, actor, and writer. Most recently Will and 3rd Eye Films were honored to be selected for LA International Shorts Fest, with the Short Film “Prick.” Prior to moving to Seattle, in 2003, Will completed his BFA from the University of Colorado, in Performance Studies.

Lucien Flynn started writing at an early age and his interest in filmmaking was soon to follow. He has been writing, producing and directing independent films for several years and currently works closely with numerous other local filmmakers with 3rd Eye Films, a production company that emphasizes collaboration with other artists in its quest to make high-quality, innovative and compelling independent films.
