Special Focus: Washington State For the fifth consecutive year, the Washington state film industry hosted a series of high profile filmmaker dinners at the Sundance Film Festival. These dinners celebrate the best of film, food and wine in Washington State and provide the perfect environment for leaders from our local film community to pitch filmmakers on shooting their next feature film, commercial or television project in the state of Washington.
This year the two dinners were co-hosted by Executive Director Amy Lillard Dee along with James Keblas from the Seattle Office of Film + Music, with a lively conversation moderated by our very own Warren Etheredege from The Warren Report. A variety of industry leaders such as director Whit Stillman ("The Last Days of Disco"), producer Jay Stern ("Rush Hour 1, 2, & 3") and actor Rachel Dratch from Saturday Night Live, as well as, some of the industries brightest rising stars like Brad and Todd Barnes the co-directors of "Homewrecker" and Melanie Miller from Fishbowl Films attended the dinners. Guests were treated to a five-course meal expertly prepared by sous chef Benjamin Closson from W Seattle's signature restaurant Earth & Ocean. And each course was paired with an award winning wine provided by Anna Schafer from aMaurice Cellars located in Walla, Walla.

Washington Filmworks welcomes Julie Daman as the new Accounting Manager Washington Filmworks is pleased to announce that Julie Daman has joined the organization as our full time Accounting Manager. Julie will be responsible for day-to-day fiscal operations and will oversee the audit and review process for all qualified motion picture productions.
After graduating with honors from NYU's Tisch School of the Arts, Julie began her film industry career working in the accounting department on "Spin City," the episodic series starring Michael J. Fox When the series was on hiatus, Julie gained practical production and art department knowledge by working in various capacities on high profile shows such as "My Giant," "Isn't She Great and "28 Days." Julie relocated to Los Angeles when "Spin City" made the jump to Hollywood, filing her "downtime" by working on other episodic series such as DAG, The Ellen Show and Scrubs as well as a number of network television pilots. In 2005 she began her own New Media production company where she created a weekly podcast, an award winning mini-sitcom web series, as well as produced work for clients such as TBS.com, Spike Television and independent music artists. Just prior to moving to the Seattle, Julie worked as the lead accountant on the independently produced feature film "Ms. January."
