WASHINGTON FILMWORKS LOCATION OF THE MONTH

Washington Filmworks is proud to announce June's Location of the Month.  This featured location will help showcase the wealth of diversity in locations across our state.  If you have a location you'd like featured as a Location of the Month, please submit to us via info@washingtonfilmworks.org.

Garage Billiards is an converted automotive garage that began as a pool hall with tournament sized pool tables, a full service bar, and restaurant. Garage immediately became a local favorite, attracting area hipsters, college students and corporate parties.

Seeing the next emerging trend Garage decided to add bowling lanes to their venue.  In 2003 the three story, one of a kind bowling alley was completed,  the first to open in Seattle city limits in 40 years.  Garage bowl quickly became a catalyst for parties and provided a socially active alternative to the typical night of bar hopping.

To meet the demands of business, Garage owners decided to make better use of their neighboring parking lot with another expansion.  In fall 2008, the second addition was completed adding a mixture of 20 bowling lanes, 25 pool tables, 6 bars, 3 private rooms, and plenty of lounging room for a night out.  Garage now has total public space of nearly 40,000 square feet.

Garage welcomes shoots of all types.  As of November 1, 2010 booking of Garage for all shoots will be done through Peter Allen Locations (PAL).  Please contact PAL at 206-601-1585 or via e-mail at peter@peterallenlocations.com. Click here to see pictures of Garage: GARAGE

Or visit the Peter Allen Locations web site at http://www.peterallenlocations.com/ and click on the Locations button.

For more information on shooting at Garage please read the Info Sheet:  http://www.peterallenlocations.com/locs/garage/info.htm

Please do NOT call Garage directly to inquire about shooting requests.

AROUND THE TOWN

As a part of Washington Filmworks ongoing efforts to facilitate production and community interaction in the Washington film community here is some of the work we're involved in around the state.

Washington Filmworks' Executive Director Amy Lillard was in Palm Springs California to attend the Palm Springs
International ShortFest as a special representative of Washington State.

Our staff attended the NW Connections party, the Film Industry event night and the SIFF Closing Night Gala, to rub shoulders with the Washington film community, show support to our local filmmakers, talent and crew and to share in the excitement of the 37th Seattle International Film Festival

Washington Filmworks would like to congratulate our 2011 Fly Filmmakers.  The four Fly Films received a standing ovation at their premiere and were warmly received as part of SIFF. Congratulations to Matt Clarke, SJ Chiro, Tim Watkins and Evageline Spraklin and her team from Reel Grrls for their hard-work and success.

Members of the board of directors and staff from Washington Filmworks visited Spokane earlier this month to speak to the Eastern half of the state to about the 2011 Legislative Session and our plans for the film industry moving forward.  Thank you to all those who were able to attend.
